When the body is mentioned anywhere, it means all those who have given their hearts and lives to Jesus. It does not matter where they are, who they were, or what their skin color is. If I am born from my father, there is no way I can change that. It does not matter how many times I deny him, it won't change the fact that he is my father, and I am his son. The same goes for any other person born from my father. He will always be my brother, whatever I do.
The same will always be true of my heavenly family. The ties with which we are tied together, is eternal, and nothing can change that. I have the faith, that my sins have been removed from me as far as the east is from the west, when I gave my life to Jesus, and I have to have the same grace towards my brothers in Christ.
So that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new! (2Cor. 5:17)
The promise from God is that if I confess my sins with my mouth, He is faithful to forgive them.
I was a stranger, and you did not take Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me. (Mat 25:43)
Jesus said, if you visit those who are in prison, you are visiting Him.
The reality of the matter is; I am he, and he is me, whether he is in prison or not. God does not favor one person above another, for they are all His sons, and He wishes to bless all according to His own heart. He needs to keep His Covenant promises to all who belong to Him.
For this He uses the body of Christ, and as the body of Christ, we cannot decide where we want to go, or where we don't want to go.
Jesus said;
If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will also be. And if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him. (Joh 12:26)
Many people are denying Jesus the right to bless His body, simply because they have preconceived ideas of where they will go, and where they will not go.
ADOPT-A-BROTHER is a plan whereby other members of the body, are enabled to be instrumental in blessing those members who are still serving time for crimes committed.
There are different levels of commitment to the plan.
For those who choose to remain anonymous and would not want personal contact, they can commit themselves to the prison ministry by means of either a fixed amount of money per month, or a once of payment, to a specific inmate, or into the fund for general use for the inmates in general.
Secondly you could choose to rather commit to a specific inmate and to supply in his needs, as it arises. Again they have the choice of being anonymous or they can choose to be known to that specific inmate. The money will be deposited directly into his name, and he can thank his provider personally, if it is not an anonymous donor.
And lastly you have the option to fully commit to a specific inmate, financially, as well as spiritually. He can be visited on a regular basis and his spiritual progress can be experienced with him, through personal contact.
Should someone be interested in adopting a brother, he will be given a choice of a number of inmates who have been identified as being in need of support, whether it be financially or spiritually.
Needless to say, the privacy of the inmate has to be respected, and classified information will not be made available to anyone for the purpose of selecting an inmate. The discernment of the spiritual worker as well as their own discernment, has to be trusted.
The proposed project of adopt-a-brother, will be implemented countrywide, in order to accommodate people from every part of the country, as well as reaching into all the prisons country wide.
The governing body will consist of regional committees who will be responsible to a central committee, taken from members of the regional committees.
The fund will be subject to an annual audit and will be continually transparent to all interested parties.
